The story of the sad little chair... and projects everywhere!
Today I went to my parents house. As some of you know I come from a family that has hoarding tendencies. I’m used to it now, so when I have to precariously balance to not trip on tools and stuff in the conservatory to get the house it barely registers I’m tiptoeing. I’m so used to seeing old oil drums, shopping trolleys, and random bits of metal in the garden that I don’t notice them now. For the past few months however, I have noticed this little tiny child’s rocking chair.

Why is decluttering like riding a bike?
For my daughter’s 5th Birthday I bought her a bike. A pretty black and pink Tinkerbell bike. Al was fine for her birthday until she decided that the stabilisers had to come off as they were babyish. All her friends had a bike, and were quickly grasping the concept of how to ride, but MiniTingle just couldn’t get to grips with it. Lots of tantrums. Lots of “Why can’t I do this when all my friends can?” She gave up, despite my protests to keep trying. Every so often I would

What they don't tell you once you've decluttered your wardrobe!
No one ever warned me that my shopping habits would totally change once I decluttered. They never explained I’d spend £100 on a lamp, or like today over £115 on a jacket. With the exception of a few extravagant suits from L K Bennett for very special occasions I’m the kind of girl that always shopped at cheap shops like Primark. Next if I was feeling rich. It’s not that I don’t have expensive taste, it’s just that my bank account was never able to supply what I needed! I’

8 Top Tips for a tidy office space
Last Thursday I was called in short notice to Radio Sheffield to discuss the phenomenon of KonMari as their resident decluttering expert. When I got the studio the editor and presenter had come up with the idea of me decluttering the newsroom on air. Now I never feel out of my depth or panicked when decluttering with clients mainly because I know my stuff and I love a challenge – but I’m not ashamed to say at this point I got nervous! You’d think I would be nervous because o

Why you should never meet your idols, a review of Netflix's Tidying up with Marie Kondo.
Let me start by saying I’m a total KonMari convert. For the past 4 years I have worshipped Marie Kondo’s method of decluttering after I totally transformed my home and life by following her method. With the launch of 'Tidying up with Marie Kondo' at the beginning of January on Netflix, it seems the world is finally realising the positives of a declutter. Even after decluttering my books, her two are still proudly displayed on my shelves and I still flick through them frequ

Probably my most personal blog ever!
This week I’ve been pretty quiet on social media as my beloved dog became very poorly on Monday morning and on Tuesday I had to make the heartbreaking decision to end his suffering and have him put to sleep.
If any of you have pets, you’ll know they become part of your family and their loss can be just as sad as any other family bereavement. So why am I telling you this? Well, it helped me realise just how far I’ve come on my decluttering journey, and also just how easy it

10 reasons why organised Mums declutter before Christmas!
Christmas seems ages away yet, but if you’re a mum with clutter now is the perfect time to get organised ready for Christmas! Here’s why!
1) Wardrobe It’s time to say goodbye to summer dresses and sandles (sob!) and hello to thick winter jumpers and boots. As the year changes so do fashions and our own taste (not to mention our waistlines) so now’s the perfect opportunity to go through all your summer clothes and decide what will make the cut for next year. No point storing

I’m on a mission!
I have a mission. It’s my mission to make every family in South Yorkshire feel cluster free and calm in their home. A big mission, but one I feel I can achieve! Going by the number of clients I’ve had I’m on my way there, but it is going to take some doing. Luckily I’m really passionate about this mission and have promised myself I’m going to do all I can to make it happen. I can visualise turning crazy cluttered family homes into calming spaces that work for everyone. I c

Being perfect is hard work!
This is ‘the chair’. The chair that clothes used to be thrown on. The chair that never actually got sat on. The chair that has been through a house move and just been in a corner of my bedroom since I was 15 years old and I saw it at a jumble sale. It’s green velvet with brown brocade was never appealing but I’ve always loved the legs and the curve of its back.
When I decluttered it stayed, to the surprise of friends who had seen its paint splattered 70s seat. It stayed beca

Let’s talk about Mental Health!
With so many people affected my mental health (MH), and as our brain is just as important than our other organs, you’d think there wouldn’t be a stigma attached to mental health issues any more. I’ve suffered from MH issues in my life, and I treat them, and am just as open about them as I am if I had a problem with my arm or leg. I’m very open about Mental health, not only for my own personal reasons but for professional ones too. Most (but not all) of my clients suffer fr
